Edge Case is not your typical startup; we are on a mission and are committed to advancing the state of the art in safety engineering for autonomy. Doing this requires a deep understanding of what safe autonomy means at a fundamental level, along with hard work and creativity to bring stakeholders together around a viable plan. That's what our collaboration with Underwriters Laboratories has achieved in UL 4600.

We had the pleasure of working with some of the smartest people across the AV ecosystem to craft a plan that lays out clear requirements for designing, building, and assessing a safety case for complex autonomous systems. OEMs, Tier 1 Suppliers, and Developers now have a practical roadmap for tracking the safety of their own technology, and the technology of their suppliers. Operators of autonomous vehicles have tools for monitoring the safety of their fleets as they expand to new routes and operational design domains. And for the first time, insurers can use UL 4600 as a basis for assessing the safety of autonomous vehicles.
